My young homers (born last summer) are settling down on their first nest right now. Last night a female was setting, but today I noticed that there are 5 eggs under her!!! What!? I have 5 adult homers... one is the mom to the other 4, and then there are 4 young from 2009. I thought that 2 of the young were males (they were clucking/cooing and carrying on) and that 2 were females, but maybe not! What do you think?

As of this evening there are 6 eggs in the nest! I guess I have at least 3 females (I thought that 3 were females and 2 were males, but I am not sure). Do you think that I should take all the eggs and let them start all over?

I have a pair doves right not sitting on 10 eggs

, i must have a few females who are laying in one nest.

Day 12, and at least 3 pigeons are still taking turns sitting on the 6 eggs! I am really curious about what will happen. I hope that at least the 2 from my old 'matriarch' are viable (although I haven't seen her sitting on the eggs at all... I just saw her hanging around the nest when the eggs were being laid).

Well, it is day 17 and it appears that the pigeons have stopped sitting on this nest!

Bummer. Well, maybe that means that none of the eggs were viable anyway...
