5 gallon office water cooler style for chickens?

Ha! That water cooler/xmas tree stand setup is brilliant!

And, I have Dominiques who stand around wading in the rubber bucket and getting nothing done. You don't need a water cooler for that. ;)

This looks like something I could put together, but I was wondering what you mean by putting a hole in the cap? Perhaps I haven't read previous posts with more info, but would you tell where the cap is?
Thanks,
Arlie

In case they don't see your question for a bit -- I think they put put the cap back on the bottle in the normal way -- in the photo it's at the bottom. The small hole drilled in the cap lets out the water in a more controlled way than if there was no cap. Once the water flows out above the cap level no air can get in the bottle and a vacuum is created which keeps further water from coming out till the birds lower the level enough for some air to get in the bottle. Love seeing everyday objects used in novel ways -- bravo!
See this fun demo for the principle

You are spot on breakout! I tried it with no cap at first and there was far to much power behind the water when it came out so the bowl would overflow. once I put the cap on (with the center piece taken out) it was much more controlled and the chickens didn't get wet feet! :)

how much Apple cider vinegar per gallon of water? i have noticed a huge difference with using my city water vs well water .Id like to use the well because no chemicals but water needs changing more often because of the algae.

Apple cider vinegar. Most people here buy the organic kind. One brand is Bragg's and I think there's another mentioned somewhere. I buy Bragg's at kroger or GNC.
Hello- i read on here somewhere how to make your own acv using a starter of braggs. Something about the "Mother" and a stepwise process ... Do you have any insight? I would like to try making some but am not sure how to proceed...
