5 month old chickens not roosting

I need some advice- my 5 month old barred rocks and orpingtons are still sleeping on the floor of the coop at night. The roosting bars aren't too high, so I can't figure out why they aren't roosting at night yet. Any suggestions?

Mine slept on the floor for the longest time, too. I had older birds who were roosting, so I figured maybe they weren't letting the young ones on the roost. But now my younger chickens are 7 months and I just noticed them finally sleeping on the roost at night. I didn't do anything different, so I don't really have any advice...maybe just wait it out?

Welcome! Your youngsters don't have older flockmates to show them the way. You could go out at night and move them up onto the roost, or just wait for them to wise up. Pictures of your coop might help here too. Mary
