I have her foot soaking now. How long should I soak it? Should I put anything on it afterward?

I usually let it soak for around 10 mins, you don’t need to put anything on her foot after.

Is there a chance she stepped on something sharp, such as a wire, piece of sharp plastic or a nail or a screw? Perhaps it's a splinter.

After soaking in Epson Salt & warm water, check the "scab" ... Could we get a picture to decide whether is a start of bumble foot. Orpingtons are "heavy" gals, I've had several of them & they are my favorite breed. It's very possible she "sprained" herself but I'm more concerned about the newly discovered "scab".

I might try putting her in an isolation cage with some food and water very close by. That way she would not have to go very far to eat and drink while you buy some time for her to heal. Maybe she just needs a little down time. I hope she gets better.

IF you do separate her, using a wire cage with food/water would be good ... Put the cage in the coop so she remains part of the flock.
