I bought 5 chicks from a friend's son yesterday. The only information I have on them is that they bought them from a flea market from some lady that had hatched them in an incubator. They aren't even sure how old they are- maybe 5 weeks was the best guess. Help me!! Pretty please with sugar on top.

1 and 3 look like silver duckwing somethings, maybe game hens? I'd say female on those two. The rest, I'm not sure on.

they don't look well, though. Unless it was very cold when the pics were being taken, they shouldn't be hunched over like that, and fluffed up. The first and maybe third birds look healthy, the rest, not so much. Have they been having diarrhea? They're prime age for cocci issues.

They are on medicated feed. Do you think I should add some Corid to their water? And they could be cold. I live in GA where it is usually in the 90s during the day, but we've had a cold snap and I think it is in the mid 80s out there. They weren't under lights, so I didn't have one. But I can have my hubby hook one up. They do seem to be eating and drinking well.

I did a poop check and it looked normal to me. Not that I have a ton of experience in this area! (I raised 15 hatchery chicks in the spring, but no other baby chick experience). I hooked up a lamp and they all perked up a bit. They were chirping and eating. So I'm hoping they were just cold. I feel like such a bad mommy for not hooking them up one before!

They all look like hens ! Looks like they are all bantams for sure. If they are all old english, they are all hens because roos would need to be dubbed by now.
1 silver duckwing old english?
2 mille fleur colored OE? Mille fleur something...
3 silver duckwing OE ?
4 I dunno
5 I dunno
They look cold ! Xd

Yep- they were cold. I put a heat lamp out there and they are all running around cheeping. Whoops. And I let my layer flock run out of water today! It is a chicken FAIL day for me. I will post more pics in a couple weeks.

Its where they cut off the comb for either showing or to keep them from becoming frostbit. Some people who fight chickens also do it to prevent head injuries during the fights, so they can fight longer.

Yeah... We never dubbed one before...but we show ours and they are very prone to frostbite. The male lost all the ends of his toes to frostbite- can't show him anymore !
Yes it bleeds...and probably hurts...but it must be done.

Here is our dubbed rooster. You can kinda see his toe stubs.
