5 Silkie Hens in Need of Loving Home

Thank you so much! Unfortunately I have tried all of that and the rats are now out during the day! I got a new metal feeder and don't leave any food out at night but they have adapted and are making new holes faster than I can plug them up! I am at my wits end and just want a better life for my girls :(
The neighbor had rats when she bought the farm. They had junk piles out back, so when she built a coop and run, they moved there and tunneled underneath. Her cure was night vision goggles and a .22 pistol. She also did the baking soda and corn meal. Between the two things she got a lot, and the rest eventually just left. You unfortunately, being in the city, have a neverending supply of them. I just couldn't do it.

Let us know how you do. They do look like nice birds. I will check with my cousin and see if she is looking for any additional birds. Our run is not fully roofed and I never considered silkies because of it. We also have commercial chicken houses on our street -- which means that we are only rat free for so long...
