5 toes

I ordered Cochin Frizzle hatching eggs. I got one chick out and it has 5 toes. I thought only silkies had 5 toes am I wrong?

What is it? Help!

I reviewed my egg notes, yes I keep detailed records, this is #16 a bonus egg from the Frizzle person. I got two bonus eggs #15 & #16 both eggs hatch and I got Silkies. Wow The one chicken I did not want and I got them as bonus eggs.

Why are you so against silkies? The make AMAZING mothers. Mine has gone broody and hatched babies twice in the past four months, and she is SO protective! The don't eat much, and they don't bother anyone. Plus, yours look very cute!

The good news for you is, they aren't full silkies. They don't have black skin.

I turned down free silkie eggs to buy non- silkes. and I get two silkies eggs free as bonus eggs when I bought Cochin Frizzle eggs.

Ah...gotcha. Those city rules suck. It kinda makes me glad I live in the country. How many other chicks hatched? Are they all frizzles?

You might want to keep the little guys until they get a little bigger though, because all my silkie mixes have come out REALLY cool. Who knows, you may actually like them. The mama is a white silkie hen, and all of the babies have had the colors of their dad's line (EE and BR), but feathered feet and a really cool tuft of feathers on their head that look really cool.

I'll show you some pics when I get logged into photobucket. I have dialup, and it takes FOREVER! LOL.

[Sonoran Silkies]

I am going to guess that the first photo is a cochinXsilkie. It will not have silkie feathering, has a beard and will probably have a smaller crest. The 2nd hatchling looks much more like a full silkie.

My Bantam Buff Cochin has 5 toes

Well I have had three hatch with 4 piping and all have 5 toes, the coloring is cute a blue and white. I hope these guys don't grow on me.
