I have a flock of 7, 5wk old chicks, all born same day and brought home together. 4 Orpingtons, 3 Barred Rock. All are pretty much fully feathered now, with the exception of one.
This poor thing has hardly any feathers. Such a sweet little gal/guy but is clearly behind the rest.
It’s getting to the point where he/she is getting worn bald spots on her wing bones and breast. Is this normal??
Some have told me Roos take longer to feather but I feel that this is on another level. And I did purchase sexed pullets so I don’t believe I have any Roos. Does he/she look unhealthy to anyone? They all eat/drink very well and get out to frolic and play very often. She doesn’t act sickly at all.
Has anyone ever had this issue??

Hmm... Are you sure they are proper age? I mean they do have feathers coming in and they seem to be healthy?
Well they are all the same age, I guess technically they are just under 5 weeks old.. so maybe it’s still early. Just comparing her to the others.. they are all quite feathered. In the second photo you can see faintly in the background, her sister whose very feathered.
Maybe she is just a late bloomer, because you’re right she does have some peeking through.

I definitely think she's just late. At only five weeks, she still has plenty of time to grow :)

my chicks are just now 5wks old and, same as you, 7 chicks. 6 of them feathering out perfectly but the 1 chick looks IDENTICAL to yours! your chicks are a few weeks ahead of mine...did your "late bloomer" finally fully feather out? 😥

So update on my late bloomer.. they are now 2.5 months old. She has filled out- somewhat. Still less feathered out than the rest, but she is healthy and spunky as ever. I’ve just told myself not to worry at this point since she is doing well, despite the missing of feathers. I thought at first she was being pecked at but when I sit back and watch the flock isn’t bothered by her at all. All get along great.
If anyone else who mentioned their late bloomer, has any insight let me know! Here are some photos.
