I think this little duckling is still too young to tell. The little duckling hasn't got his quack yet. Still sounds like a peep to me instead of a quack. So I've been doing some reading about ducklings and such since we just got little "Peek a Boo." And we also picked up two more ducklings yesterday. But anyway - back to Peek a Boo ... Peek is a 5 week old Mallard duckling. We would really like to know if he/she is a girl or boy. So after doing some reading I learned that you can tell by their quack. So I videoed Peek a Boo quacking this morning to share with you all and get your opinion ... BOY or GIRL??
I have 4 six week old mallards. 2 are drakes and 2 are hens. But i have no idea which is which since i took their bands off. They have started getting their blue colors on their wings. (I caught one in mid flap - his wing is fine) I heard the first quack last week when one got pecked. Now this week, they have all started doing little quacks instead of peeps. One of them is pecking the other three and I am not sure why. But I caught her ( not sure if she is truly a hen or not - I am guessing?) and she pulls the other threes feathers out. I can tell they are scared of her. Is there anything I can do about this bad behavior? So I've been doing some reading about ducklings and such since we just got little "Peek a Boo."
