5 week old Silkie, plz say it’s a girl!

Nope, check my location ;)
If you search online you could probably find someone selling a female Splash Silkie
Just saw your location and yes you are far. I’ll try looking for a breeder. Maybe there’s some breeders I can find on this forum. I’m very new to chicks, Fifi being my 2nd out of 2 I have so I’m not familiar with sourcing them! On CL all I found were roosters. No chicks or anything.

@BirdieandFifi ypur silkie is WAY too young to be able to say for sure what gender it is. Just because someone knows a lot about the breed, does not mean they can accurately sex chicks so young. Silkie's are a slow developing breed. 12 weeks is a bit young to be sure, but it's a starting place. Even regular breeds can't normally be sexed at 5 weeks. So please don't get rid of it, or anything, because there is absolutely nothing that can be pointed straight to cockerel at so young an age.

Thanks. I’ve been actually thinking about this a lot lately. Fifi does have quite the receding fluff/beakline/forehead. Not a raised comb but wide and fluff receding making it look wide and long (I think) I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a boy. Didn’t really notice any of this and it never occured to me until everyone pointed it out.

Fifi is always standing all honkered over and making herself/himself look extra small and my whole family has always gone out of their way to say they’re soo sure it’s a female based on its temperament but that could also be a silkie thing. I know even the roos tend to be sweet and all fairness none of my family have chickens so their opinion means little. But thanks for the encouragement.

I guess now I’m kinda rethinking what I’ve done. Got these cute chicks and now thinking what I’d do if Fifi really is a roo ): Craigslist is already full of free ones and regardless of how sweet he is and cute I think his imperfections are...who really who wants to adopt a TSC quality roo. *sigh*

For the future; TSC gets their chicks from hatcheries. The bantams, here at least, are feather sexable but of course, you can always vent sex to avoid obvious males.
