5 White Silkies Stolen

Amy just forwarded an email I just got from some guy ? MN looking to find out where my flock is and even name dropped your name with a town you told him I live in. I KNOW you would never do that, so heads up.

Please do not go anywhere near where they live. That could be a very dangerous thing for you to do. Even though your chickens mean alot to you, it's not worth risking your life for, or asking someone else to risk theirs. Let law enforcement handle it. As far as the sherrif not wanting to fill out a report for "just a few chickens", let him know just how much money those chickens are worth and make sure that report is filed! Good luck!

Sounds like it was the two asian gentlemen for sure, it's just too much of a coincedence... I would go snoop on their property to see if they had my birds but I am crazy like that. I hope you get your birds back!!! how terrible.

"law enforcement" doesn't handle much of anything around here. The dog-catcher can't even catch dogs.

If the OP is getting her birds back, it's going to be from the actions of regular people in the hobby, not "the law"

Been busy putting those personalized wingbands on everything and getting game cams installed for now. Between that and work, it doesn't leave alot of time to sit on the computer. We have a swap today in Faribault and Moose Lake. Lots of people keeping watch at both of those. I will be going to the swap in St. James tomorrow morning.

I know I can't legally go snooping around those guy's places. I called the show superintendant from last week and he knows those 2 Asian guys. I have a name and address on the 1 at least. I turned that over to the sheriff and I heard a call on the police scanner that the Watanwon county deputy was called. Haven't heard back from them yet. It almost killed me to call an ex-boyfriend too. His grandpa lives out on that same gravel road and I know he stores his semi out in one of his machine sheds overnight. I'm having him keep a lookout when he drives by there all the time. All of my Asian friends in the surrounding communities are keeping their ears open too.

C....The guy that contacted you is the Badger Club vice-vp over there in WI. All I gave him was your website and told him you live right up there. I don't want him seeing the full siblings of these birds and sending the police after you either. He'll be keeping watch on show entries and swaps for their club. I think if these birds do turn up at shows, IA and WI are likely areas if this is someone fairly local.

I wasn't even thinking about the legalities so much as your safety or the safety of others. NO animal is worth risking your life or that of someone else. I hope you can get your birds back, or at the very least find and prosecute those who took them.

My husband worked in law enforcement/criminal investigations and he said you probably know the thieves. They just knew where and what to look for. You will never see these birds up for sale, because they were targeted for their show qualities. They will use them to breed show birds for future competitions. Not only have they destroyed your breeding strain, they have also assured that you will not come back to compete with their offspring. Start looking around those that are also breeding for show. People that have been in contact with you at shows. It's not the garden variety people that go to shows to just look around, it is those that are actively breeding themselves.
Good luck,
Katharina

This is very sad.

Now I'm not letting anyone near my chickens. You never know what some people are thinking. Wonder why people have to be so mean? Keep us posted.
