5 White Silkies Stolen

I'm so sorry. I couldn't even begin to image how bad your feeling. It's sad how some people are. I hope that you can find them.

I just can't get this off of my mind....my Silkies are no where near the quality of birds you had stolen, but I love them with all my heart, and have no tolerance for "wrong doers".

I have an idea, that hasn't been mentioned. I figured law enforcement was going to laugh this off, or not really do anything about it.....BUT WE CHICKEN LOVERS CAN !!!!!!

I don't know how large a town you live in, so I don't know how much leg work would be involved, but I thinks its something proactive we can ALL do.

What I originally posted---my idea of how to help---was against the rules.

I still feel confident it would have worked.....

Well I am borrowing night vision game cam's from friends. I have the riveted personalized wingbands. I just have to finish getting them put on. The town I live in is only about 2,500 people so the word will spread fast. If the cops don't want to do something about it there are alot of the old-timers in the pigeon and poultry clubs that don't tolerate theft. A very well known pigeon judge from a neighboring town had some his vorbergs stolen last year. The network turned those birds up at a show down south. There is hope. I am close friends with alot of the Asians from the area. Word will spread....

That is just awful!

I am really sorry about the loss of your show winning silkies. It just hurts me that some people in this world would go through that hassle just to steal the birds (for showing or for food.) I hope you will find some clues along the way who might have stolen them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be okay.

I'm so very sorry. It's really a shame that the police in so many of these cases just laugh it off. A theft is A THEFT! Would you put it past a person who steals a living breathing animal not to steal something more "expensive" (since they've already stolen what's more valuable!) It's scary to think these men may have followed you home. I don't understand what is wrong with this country when a crime is made less of because of the 'perceived' value. If someone steals a garden frog statue, a car, a TV, a chicken or anything else why is one more of a crime than the other? It's STEALING... PERIOD! Whoever did it violated your private property!

I hope you keep us updated on what's going on and whether you've made any headway into tracking your birds down. Did you say these guys you had "a feeling" about were from a restaurant? You may ask around and see if anyone you know, knows anyone they know or lives nearby them who may have had the opportunity to notice if they've gotten any new birds recently. You may also try POSTING an ad on craigslist (or having a friend do it for anonymity) "Wanted: Silkies" and see if you get any replies. (Most thieves aren't too bright as previously mentioned.) I'm not sure of the craigslist rules but you may also want to post a "MISSING" ad as well. You can post a "lost" pet ad on pets911.com for free. It's so much to deal with but we're all wishing for this to turn out in your favor!

We could microchip them, but that still wouldn't help us find them. But, we could prove that they are ours if they are chipped.

Okay, it's time to invent a GPS chip, so we can track down all the thieves. I just hate that this has happened, and can't see how any person could do that to another.

What I don't understand is...if the value of the birds constitutes a felony, then why won't they issue a search warrant? Have you contacted your prosecuting attorney's office ( I sure would)? It infuriates me that the police are taking this so lightly. I think I'd call the press in the closest large town, also. They love animal stories. The publicity could really help, and surely couldn't hurt.

Edit to say:
I am so very sorry for your loss. Your birds are beautiful! I hope and pray you get them back.
