5 White Silkies Stolen

I just cannot imagine! You are right too, it had to be a very experienced person to pick out just the ones they wanted out of seperate cages no less. I'm sure I'm too far away (and no where near a good enough chicken person) to spot them - but I can send you some hugs, and keep praying that they make it home.

I am not a silky fan but yours are/were gorgeous! I cant imagine what you are going through! I am truly sorry that you are going through this, I hope that you get them back and that the people that stole them break out in itchy hives! lol

Just a question, what makes you think they wanted to eat them? I hope you can make some progress in finding your birds, two legged predators are the worst kind!

I can answer that.... Asians LOVE the black meat of the Silkies its a prized meat for them.

Ah! I see, I was just curious cause I did not know the significance. What a bummer.

Time to get a new guard dog puppy! Those were beautiful silkies, sorry for your loss. Your instincts about who made have taken them just may be right. I had a garage sale and there was an item (a beautiful statue) in the front yard and this lady would not take no for an answer, she wanted it no matter what the cost, really persistant and pushy. I removed it from the front yard when I saw her drive by again after the sale had ended, I believe she was going to steal it. Now it's in the back yard with the doberman and I am not worried about it. Hopefully they will find them soon!

It gets worse.....Sheriff came out this morning. There is a gravel road that runs adjacent to the farm about 1/4 mile away. The field in between was just tilled and planted this last week. There was a fresh set of tracks going across there. Someone must have parked their vehicle over there to avoid being seen on the main highway or in the yard. If those birds are ever found, the value is enough to constitute a felony. Thanks to the show superintendant from last weekend,I have a name and address on those Asians that were bugging me. Appparently they are on his Culligan route. The sheriff said they probably won't issue a search warrant 'just over birds' but he would send the sheriff in that county over to take a look around. I know other people that live over on that gravel road and have them on the lookout too.

Gets even worse...I was in such a tizzy over my whites missing. I went through every single pen again. Every single black is accounted for. My blue rooster (band #81) is gone. He was bred by George Mihalik and purchased through Bobbi Porto. My blue hen (band #5) that I bred a few years ago is gone. My really old lavendar based splash hen (band #9) bred by Shorty Polston is gone. I really don't know if they went missing at the same time or if they came back last night.
Here are some pics...

Good God, not again! Remember last March (2009) when my Splash hen from George ("Sugar", re-named "Betty") was stolen at the Delmarva Show? She was my best Splash at the time. I was devastated, I was very close to this bird. And the Police were useless, they laughed it off as a joke! I found out who had (has) her by a fellow eggbidder who saw her at a NJ show, and took pics w/cage card & emailed them to me. I know it was her, you just know your own birds! So it turns out a Theresa McG*&%$#! has her (lives in Toms River, NJ, I have her full address & phone#). I told the police in NJ this, and when the Police report from DE came in on their fax machine the LAUGHED!!! On the phone with me, I heard them laughing!! I will never get her back. But this year, at the Delmarva Show in March, she was on the exhibitor list and did not show up. Probably scared off when she found out I would be there the whole time!

So, how many of yours were stolen? I know how I felt, and times that by (how many birds) must be how you feel! I am so sorry (and disgusted and lost my faith in mankind) to hear this. Just to see that this horrible trend is continuing....UGH!! If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. I think wing bands, microchips and barn cams and a new guard dog or 2 are the way to go with that many valuable birds. Maybe Insurance too. So sorry. People!!!! What gets into them???
