Hubby just called me from the store and asked what I needed for the chickens. Oyster shell is on the list, but they only have 50# bags for $11.00. I told him to pick it up. I have 3 pullets that are 17 weeks and one is getting ready to lay.

How fast will I go through the oyster shell with eventually 8 chicks? How long is the shelf life? Is it like DE and pretty much last forever? Thanks.

I took a 5 gal bucket & drilled 2 holes in the bottom. Sat the bucket in a feed pan filled it up & put the lid on. Figure it will hold the later shell & feed the girls for the next year or more.

Excellent for the garden but a heads up - it decreases the PH level so if you have low PH soil you might not want to add it. Tomatoes require 6-6.8 PH so test your levels before adding if you are unsure.
