Good Morning Friends -

My heart is so heavy as I sit waiting for a call from my local post office. I ordered 50 chicks
two of Meyer Hatchery 'All Pullet Rainbow Packs' that will grow up to lay colored eggs and that were scheduled to arrive early this a.m.

The post office is still waiting for the last delivery truck of the day but the post office staff
told me that in checking the track and confirm number that it only shows they were 'accepted at the Mansfield Ohio post office late p.m. on Monday the 5th but nothing has been scanned into their system after that which they told me probably means they are not
coming.

I have to wait until 9 a.m. when Meyer opens to contact them. I'm pretty sure they will
send me 'replacements' but I'm so heartbroken thinking of those poor 50 helpless little lives lost out there somewhere who will perish w/o food or water. Their brooder boxes are all set up like little nurseries just waiting for the little peepers.

Thanks for reading this far. I just need to vent and I know you all understand how I'm feeling right now. Please pray for a miracle for the little ones.

Chicks can survive 72 hours after hatching without food and water. They continue to get nutrients from the egg yolk. It is also not unheard of to have birds take 3 days to arrive (even though most make it next day or two days). That reason alone is why most if not all private breeders warn the buyer of accepting the shipping risk, unlike hatcheries we cant offer free replacements.

Often times they arrive by 3pm due to some locations being far from shipping hubs and adding extra travel time.

so sad to hear

let us know when you find anything out and good luck

Well, that stinks.
Hopefully, they will be there soon.
And, they will be really thirsty.
Good Luck.

I went through all this drama too with the post office and that night at 9 p.m. I got a call from the distribution center 1 1/2 hours away from my home, to come get them!! We jumped in the car and took off right away. But they were supposed to come to my local post office and did not. They wouldn't have come to the local post office until Monday morning (2 days later) and they were already in the mail 2 days, so they would have been dead by then.

So don't give up hope, you might get a call out of the blue from the distribution center!
