Oh my gosh! I am so sorry to hear this! What breed dog do you have?

Chickens, come home!

Side note: Welcome to BYC. I am fairly new myself.

chicken wire is pretty worthless. It doesn't take much for even a human to bend and stretch it. It pulls out of staples and away from posts very easily too. Someone posted that it's meant to keep chickens in, not animals out.

To dogs, chickens are squeeky toys. They flap and scream and bounce all over the place, BEST GAME EVER!!

For the most part, the only "great" dog with chickens is the one that completely ignores them (all the time, not just when he knows you're watching!!)

Dogs don't usually eat them-it is usually the excitement that does it for them and then after they have killed them they are done. Are you positive it was the dog??? Does his belly look really full-I am not kidding-I can tell when my dog has gotten into some deer guts during deer season that someone had dressed out close to our house. If he ate them all his belly may be really full and he will be sleeping it off. Hopefully you will find the one that is still missing. So sorry!!! I hope I never have a day like that........

oh...wow....i'm so sorry. chickens are really good at hiding and sometimes they're so creeped out that they don't want to come out for a couple of days....i really hope you find them! good luck!!!!

Sorry to hear about this. The same thing happened to us. We had a stray kill 3 of our hens but over the next 3 days the other 3 came back. I was surprised that they came back after that long but they will. Good luck!

OP, could you please post pics so people can see an example of a set up with chicken wire that did not succeed in keeping a dog out. This may save other lives. Please.

JJ
