59 degrees at night outside

What is your coop like? Is it relatively draft-free and does it give them decent protection from the elements?

I raise my chicks in a brooder in the coop, heating only one area and let the rest cool off as it will. Depending in the weather, I turn the daytime heat off anywhere from 2-1/2 weeks to 5 weeks. I turn the nighttime heat off anywhere from 3 weeks to 5 weeks. I put them in the grow-out coop that does not have any heat source but is pretty well draft-free at 4 to 5 weeks. All that is weather dependent.

Last fall, I put 5 week old chicks in the grow-put coop. At 5-1/2 weeks, the overnight temperature got in the mid-20's Fahrenheit. They were fine.

I would consider 6 to 7 week old chicks good to go with an overnight low of 59 degrees Fahrenheit if the coop is relatively draft-free where they will be sleeping.
