5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

So we are having a little heat wave this week 60/40F (compared to last wk30/10F) & today my HBR tried to convince one of his ladies it is springtime.
I have noticed her comb getting progressively redder since they finished moulting, & I was thinking I'm going to have a few empty spaces in the turner
soooo go Mr. HBR impress your lady. But she would have none of it, squaked, jumped and ran away, so apparently she is not aware of the need to lay some fertile eggs this week for NYDH.
Anyone think the put a little pepper in her food trick might we worthwhile??

This pic is from about Sept. Roo is a yr now & looking nicer.

I love your BRs they are gorgeous!

So what day is everyone hoping to receive their shipped eggs for the hatch? Friday/Saturday before, or Monday/Tuesday? If a warmer is included in the box, is it a big deal if they are enroute over the weekend? Trying to decide what day is best to ship eggs out to someone.

Well, I arranged with the seller of my SFH eggs to ship them on the 6th so they should arrive Monday and that will give them between 24-48 hours to rest. After seeing other replies I'm wondering if I should have set to have them shipped to arrive Fri to Sat. Is that not too long for them to sit and get old? I was worried about getting the freshest possible eggs and still giving them time to rest.

The Lav Orp eggs I should be picking up either Monday or Tuesday. Since they aren't shipping, I will just be transporting them myself (VERY carefully) I figure they mainly just need time to settle a tad and come to room temp in the bator room.

Personally I let them "rest" in the incubator not being turned. Age is the enemy of shipped eggs.

I have added you to the list!

What are you setting under her?
Well.... As far as I know they are her eggs. She's a bantum is all I really know.... black with brown stripes...... Right now there are 3 eggs under her, and 2 golf balls.... As she continues to lay, I may remove a golf ball every few days..... Apparently this morning she got confused when my hubby moved the golf balls out from under her, she sat on the golf balls for a bit before he moved her back onto the eggs. Probably no more than 4 eggs under her, only because she's not all that big. :) We shall see! I marked the current 3 with a marker, and will remove any excess after I hit my 4 that I want to keep. Will only plan on moving her closer to when she's ready to hatch them. I'm hoping she'll hatch them on her own as we don't have an incubator.
