Yay! I share a birthday with thanksgiving some years so I understand how... interesting that can be.

You should be able to use eggs in the fridge if they are not too old. I'd fire it up calibrate it and check temperatures anyway now just in case and welcome!

yep!!! taking it out now!!! gonna test it tonight to see how it does!!! its exciting!!!

the eggs have been in the fridge since about lets see......the first??? do I take them out now and start to let them sit and use the book carton meathod? I don't want them to go bad. we have about 5 eggs in the fridge now.

I usually don't get excited about contests ( mainly because I have never won one) but these prizes are getting pretty good. I will be watching for sure. At least here we all win the little fuzzies we hatch.
I always get excited about the contests, lol. I just like the chance of winning, kind of like why I play the lottery. I won the lottery the other day....$2.00

Oh yeah, you heard me...2 whole dollars!!!!!!

Oh good lord the anxieties. I think my digital thermometer's on the fritz...

I swear, maybe I should send this incubator back -- if it's making me THIS anxious before I even set eggs, I worry about my sanity ;)
Lol! You sound exactly like me every time I pull my incubator back out.

My worrying goes on day after day all the way until lockdown, then it kicks up a level. Hatch day is 1,000 times more stressful. Get ready for it!!

What kind of bantam?

I have one DUucle one cochin and two sultans. Also three serama but they are kept seperate. I'm lucky to get three eggs a week from the four in the main flock and two a week from the serama.[/QUOTE]

I know exactly how you feel. I had Serama's & D'Uccles, they did the same exact thing. If they were laying for a month I'd get excited then they'd go broody(Seramas) or molt. Over and over again. I rehomed them all this summer and am sticking with LF from now on.

Take them out and use the book-carton-method. They will be fine--Bloom on the eggs protects them.

I bet they hatch too!

Mine have no excuse. The coop is lit, heated, and insulated better than my first apartment. Outside today the high is 5 and tonight the low is -15 but no ice in my water dishes, the coop stays above freezing...... Darn kids today are just lazy.

Yeah I would definitely try the ones in the fridge. I had several fridge eggs in my first hatch and they hatched just fine. I'm not sure how soon you should take them out, but you want them to have time to warm slowly to room temp before they get placed in the bator.

It would be best to warm them up gradually so they don't get condensate on them.

Eggs held for longer than a week should be wrapped in plastic so they don't lose too much moisture. There are other reasons that I don't understand the science on.
