5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

The have straight combs. The first generation at least is sex linked. They are a bit smaller. They lay lots of very big eggs!

They can be crested!

Green band is living with @lawatt

actually, my Amelias have a red legband and a black one -- no green. and their eggs are very different colors! Amelia #1, with the red legband, has lighter hackles & lays a lighter-colored egg, a sea-green that almost verges on blue; her sister #2 with the black band has darker hackles, more penedesenca-like, and lays a darker, more olive egg -- here are two photos:

Amelia #2 on left, #1 on right (and a campine & marans egg for comparison)

campine, Amelia #1, Amelia #2, marans/isbar cross, and marans.

Thank you, thank you, thank you SOOO much msladyhawke! Thank goodness my mom was here to get the package, and set it in for me. All the air cells are intact and my daughters are already claiming which ones belong to whom. LOL Now just to wait the next 2 days....

thanks Laura! I must have Amelia Red band. The comb is so big now I cannot see the crest easily.

I will post a picture of the eggs I have collected so far. Of the five I have, one lays a blue egg. They really are amazing!

I have a question. When setting unshipped eggs should you start the turner on day one or wait for 3 days. The air cells haven't been slammed around like with shipped eggs?

You can start the turner right away.

They can also be set no their side and hand turned but should still be set in a hatching tray or egg carton to hatch with the big end up, tilted to match the air cell curve.

. We got White, Blue, Black, Splash and Paint Silkies. These were a gift for my 11year old DD. She was so excited opening them all up so careful so she didn't shake them. She is asking to put the incubator in her room so she can hatch them. I think I just might do it.

Here is my DD with her eggs for the hatch along
