I is great to have you hatching with us!Well, IF my Swedish Flower Hens will consent to lay IN the coop instead of in random places we can't always find, I'll break out the bator and play along.
Yes, your lightbulb (or whatever your heatsource will be) is hooked up through the thermostat, so that it can turn them on and off. Lots of people use the water heater thermostats for incubators, but I'm the last person to advise you on hooking it up.Looks like I will have everything I need besides the thermometer, humidity guage, and the thermostat. Would a thermostat like this work? How does it work? Do you hook it up to the light bulb or something?

I have read that the thermostat sensor need to be fairly close to the heat source or the temperature will vary too much.Looks like I will have everything I need besides the thermometer, humidity guage, and the thermostat. I have some that will hopefully be hatching tomorrow! The Polish is the only rooster I have. Though I'm not a big fan of polish breads, I couldn't resist trying to hatch some eggs for the first time. Just happened my laying hens are leghorn! I was not sure if they were fertilized, but apparently Cletus the rooster has been doing his job! I have 13 in now To the Hatch a Long! That is an interesting mix. Do you have some already?
