should my vent be open the entire 21 days? I have two vents and it says in the bator directions not to unplug them for the first few days,....
what do you have to do differently to dry hatch? just simply not add water? My house is really dry so i feel like i might need to add water so that they dont dry out too quickly. I dont have anything to weigh my eggs, should i get a food balance from the store?
soooooo......this wont interfere with anything? im so worried!!!It is safer to leave them out. I do not use plugs because I often have staggered hatching going on--It is really hard to remember when to pull the plugs.
Quote: I've heard putting a sponge or cup of water works. I havent tried this though, so backup would be appreciated.
OMG!!!! Japanese!!!! you will love them! have you already had them? I have one....he is a rooster. Cadbury! the chicks look like Cadbury chicks! definitely cutest EVER! really gorgeous grown birds!
okay so i wont really worry to much until the eggs go into lockdown?I wouldn't worry about getting it over 42% or even keeping it there, I don't worry about humidity being too low unless it drops below 16%
oh awesome! i have the genesis, do you fill up all the troughs to get your humidity up for hatching? Thanks! im keeping my fingers crossedI'm spoiledI have an Octagon 20 ex Advance that I incubate in, then hatch in my Hovabator Genesis 1588.![]()
Good Luck with your first hatch!![]()
i guess the humidity isnt as important as i originally thought... do you think i should keep a hydrometer to measure the humidity in the room as well? I have the incubator in my room but i think i may need to move it to a room with more consistent temps because my room fluctuates too much for some reasonI'm dry hatching this round too. The humidity in my spare bedroom is 40%.
