ChickenCanoe, that is one heck of a great story - I already wanted Penedesencas, now I want them even more!

I don't have an actual egg candler but what are some homeade ways I can make one? and it has to hold smaller eggs too
It is hard to find one that is reliable. If you keep the center water well full your humidity should be fine.yeah im having the same issue. i dont know which one to trust :/ i have two coming in the mail actually, both from incubator companies so maybe i could trust those more...im not sure if i should take water out or just trust my incubator humidity
I think they are around $44 dollars if you buy it direct from Brinsea. A friend lent me hers and I like it so much I am going to buy my ownDo you suggest the ovaview candler? I need to get one, but don't want one too pricey. How much did that cost?![]()
so for the last 24 hours + my incubator has been going between 99.4 and 100.1 degrees according to the incubator "control panel" and the humidity has been between 44% and 48%. i went to walmart tonight and got one of those temp hydrometer things (i have a hydrometer coming in the mail that hasnt shipped) and when i put the walmart thing in it now says that my humidity is at 53% while the incubator says 40% the three thermometers are agreeing on 99 degrees. Should i change anything? i have the vent plug out and the room is 30% humidity. its been about an hour since i put the different hydrometer in. maybe im being too paranoid...
hmmmm........my humidity isn't dropping witht the plugs out...Your are fine. Leave the plugs out and let the humidity drop to 25 on the new one and add water. For the Genesis incubators I add water every thee days or so until lockdown.

also, if I add water the reference goes up too much....I don't know to trust my home depot hydrometer....
right now I have both plugs out, and barely any water in there.... AAAHHHHHH!!!
also, do I place the plugs back in for lockdown and just keep the humidity?
sorry these are so hard to see....I actuaily held up my laptop to take them!![]()
ok.....so this wont affect their growing......correct? I don't want problems with their growth bc my humidity was too low for the first few days!Moisture takes time to move out of styrofoam incubators. have seen it take a day humidity to go to 25% with dry tanks. For now, let it go until it drops and then put less water in it. It might take several days but it is better than trying to dry the incubator out.
