5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Greetings all! I plan to join the NYD hatchalong - only hens here laying are Silkies, so that's what I will be hatching unless someone else surprises me. I set 33 eggs today, laid in the past week, will set again next weekend and the following, then will set on the 11th (unless someone wants to swap/buy eggs any of those days - would love to have some white egg layers), although earlier than noon, so I can be a part of this - sounds like fun!

I am just being picky about breed. I am hoping for dark-egg layers so I can keep them and have them fit into my evil chicken plan.

We have chicken eggs in the incubator right now, but they will hatch on Dec. 7th, so we will keep it warm, and put new ones in on Dec. 11th. Excited to be part of the fun!

So, I'm wondering if I should hatch this early or not. It's been between 15-40 degrees, and obviously the chicks can't live in the nice warm house till it is warm enough to be outside all the time...

Are you looking for any certain breeds to hatch? Lots of us on here are great enablers, just give us an idea what you are looking for .
