1/4cc for the little cat and 1/2cc for the big two. The Dog weighs as much as the Coon Cat so she gets a 1/2CC too.

Sleep well. I mean tight. Or however well is for you. Get some of those Christmas packages wrapped tomorrow, will you? lol...I know that's what I'll be working on.
Ugh present wrapping.... I have not wrapped one present and my kids keep asking when I'm going too. Tomorrow I will wrap....:fl Things just keep coming up. At least I bought the gifts. I only have around 50 to wrap...... I think that is why I am dreading it so bad.
All my gifts are still in the amazon boxes lol

Gift bags!

Well you're still above me and my 92% loss. My one rooster has yet to fertilize one egg. I'm setting another batch Saturday so he can hopefully redeem himself. Although I will give him that has/had mites really bad. I gave him a bath a couple days ago and I swear there were hundreds if not thousands of those nasty things. So he got two baths right in a row and then into the basement. Everyday I've been hosing him down in permethrin. Seems like there's a lot less already. This would of had to happen in a matter of about three weeks because I know he didn't have them when I bought him in early November and when I last looked him over I didn't see anything. They were all at the base of his tail and down towards his vent:/ .

Mites will sap sperm. Treat your entire coop there will be mites and eggs everywhere. I spray with perm in the coop once a month as a preventavive. But we have wild birds everywhere.

Agree on the mites, I'd check the hens carefully.  I had one with them last summer, came on very fast and almost did her in.  I treated every chicken here, repeated a week later.  I check often now.  I was horrified at how overrun that little hen was, and how fast she was going down.

CC thanks for mentioning the glass door on wine coolers, hadn't even thought about that.  I told DH I want to do this, and now he's thinking about it - he is MUCH better at this kind of thing than I am, and has the basic concept of what needs to happen.  I guess I would appreciate any recommendations on things like where to buy the parts I would need to convert a cooler to a warmer.

I candled eggs that were supposed to have moved to the hatcher last night - these eggs were overcooked the first two weeks.  Of 23 eggs, one appears it will hatch, 3 have a slight chance, the rest were goners, and obvious goners.  I had not candled earlier because I knew of the temp issue and was too depressed to see.  The good news is the eggs set a week later look like they have a much higher chance of survival - of 16 set, 11 are developing normally.  Fingers crossed.  Tomorrow I'll know how the NYD eggs are doing.

/hugs. Dead chicks in eggs are so sad.

Ooh I like that idea. I probably won't win because my camera is shot, but I do have a light as bright as the sun!:D

Nice pics! I'm so jealous of the Golden Cuckoo Marans :drool . The roos are just gorgeous!!!
Everyone has their ways of dealing with mites, worms, parasites etc. I take the easy way out. Ivermectin Cattle Pour On...a few drops on the back of the neck of each chicken works like Frontline. I had a bad case of mites, and now that I do it routinely, I've never had a problem since. Added bonus, it's a complete wormer too. Drawbacks: it's not tested for poultry, and I do egg withdrawl for 10 days to be safe. Lots of folks swear by it.

Oh Blarney :barnie . So sorry. The eggs I have of yours are doing great!! Now, to get them to hatch...they are HEAVY and those shell are hard!:fl

:thumbsup Wish I had some valuable advice for ya. Gotta agree with the rest..keep that humidity down(doesn't seem like you'll have a problem with that though). Good luck & I'll bet it'll all shake out in the end!;)

You just took me down memory lane. I grew up in a teeny tiny town in PA. All roads were dirt roads and we walked anywhere we wanted..neighbors we're friendly back then. On summer nights my Dad would take us to the local overgrown pond with a flashlight, pillow case, and mom's collander from the kitchen. At the edge of the pond Dad would shine that flashlight on a bullfrog, I would throw the collander over it, in the pillow case it would go. We'd fill the pillow case, bring them home fill the bath tub, and let them loose. I'd sit there and play with them for a while, then back to the pond they would go. MY MOM HATED IT!! We'd do almost the same thing on summer days with snakes, but without the collander, MOM REALLY HATED THAT! Simpler times...

For those of you using iver. There are studies of it decreasing fertility in raptors. ( the birds not the dinos) some feel it is close enough they don't use it on breeding hens. I just use frontline now since infertile eggs annoy me.
Frontline for chickens? Or do you use frontline for dogs?

Dog frontline.
What species is your frontline for? because we have some extra for our dogs but i would imagine its better to use one for cats and kittens instead... also out of curiosity would it be safe to substitute k9 advantix?  or is only frontline safe?

Advantage is a totally different chemical and does not work in the same way. I would not try it. Also be careful using perm or iv. On dogs and cats. Lots of things can kill cats there nervous system is different.

Ok. I figured I would ask this seeing that there is so much information on this thread. My hens just recently stopped laying. I'm talking total egg drop, none a day.

Is this because of the daylight hours dropping? They are all healthy and aren't molting. The temperature has even been really nice. I dont know what's up?
mine also stopped 6 days before hatch along but i saved the 4 i got the day befor and 2 from fridge ..its day light and cold temps also they do take lil vacations from laying lol
