5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

hahaha, she sounds well evil.
Do you have a picture of her? She sounds beautiful.
She is the one in the middle of the picture and her mom is at the back left in the picture. She is sweet when she isn't in the chicken house!

And that's about my experience with Wyandottes too. I really don't want anymore, ever!

Oh, I'm so jealous! I want to see a pip, or a peep! Haven't seen one since the Cinco de Mayo hatch! Soooo excited!
Really? I have raised LF and bantam BLRWs for 3 years and this is the first crazy one. Sorry you have had bad experiences with them because they are really neat birds

Hay guys, so when I candle ( day 11 ) if any eggs are clear with or without a red ring they are to be chucked out ???
Chicken Canoe posted an article about leaving the clears that do not stink in. It helps with heat dispersion. Pull blood rings but make sure they are blood rings. It is sad to crack open an egg like that and find a chick.

Look what I got!!!

Ha Ha! What a cheeky little face!!! 2nd chick so far - 1st was yellow and not yet made an appearance when I have my phone handy!!
How cute!

You could have 55 Chicks!

I use the hatch chart and the air cell guide to candle and try real hard to candle on those days.
I hope I do have 55 chicks. Always room for more chickens. Aren't you glad your not my neighbor! No really, lets do some math. 55 would be a perfect hatch of what is left. Not going to happen since I got up this morning and the bulb in my incubator had burned out sometime in the night. Temp was down in the 80s. Not a total disaster since it was 6 hours at the most. Half of what hatches will probably be roos so my math says no more that 50% hens of 55 is 27 1/2. (Half a chick wow that would be odd.) I am currently hitting reset on both flock pens so that would be enough to fill one pen. Wait a minute, did I just count my chickens before they were hatched! "smacks forehead"

I love it!

Do not count them until they hatch, Rooster do not count and each breed counts as one. See, I only have 6 chickens.....
