5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

I have a chick un zipping right now! I can leave it in the bator all night? and do they sometimes start unzipping then stop to rest?

Yes, I just had one hatch. It will stay there until tomorrow afternoon/evening. Try to wait until they are all hatched. DON'T open the bator. :)

Yes to all of it!

It is often best to go away on the day of hatch--It is better to leave them alone.

Well, hello!

Waiting for my brother/sister...

It is cute when they help with the hatch!

Erm... don't know what's usual, but mine have almost always been <20 minutes from zip to out. Sure, you can leave her in - she should stay there until she's dry, anyway. Congrats on your zipping!

We came home from our New Years Party to a new chick. Yippy!! First one of this hatch. And one more is pipping. I will try and post pic tomorrow.

I must admit, this was much less stressful, and less exciting, before the new 'bator. When they're under a broody, I don't know until they pop out at me, and in the old incubator I can't see much without opening it - so it's just "day 22 - what's in here?" this is much more exciting - darn, am I tired!
