My family has a song they sing at the incubator, my wife started it when our first chicks were pipping. Something like,

"Come out little chickie come out, come out little chickie come out."

It pretty darn cute to walk in and see her or one of our boys singing it at the incubator.

The screed actually helps them with their feed and legs. Slick smooth surfaces are bad for them. They will figure it out.
