5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

I have one zipping.

There still is no change here. 3 pipped, one of them pipped twice. SIGH.

Pictures!

I moved the chicks to the Brooder. The last egg is alive!

These are Crele Penedesenca and Cream Legbar crosses and lay Olive to Dark brown eggs. If the Auto Sexing is working(it looks like it is!) then the darker chicks without the chipmunk pattern will be pullets. I am reserving judgement until tomorrow for that though. It looks like I have at least two boys and the rest girls.

These are gorgeous chicks

LOVE THEM

My one little egg is 45 minutes overdue and have seen no action at all from it yet. It was alive when it went into lockdown. I took the risk of switching it over into the crappy Brinsea Mini eco to make room for some of my own "homegrown" eggs in the bigger styrobator, and if the Brinsea has killed this one, too, I will be so disappointed.
Come on, little egger!

Nothing going on here with 4 hours to go for the first batch.
I'll be so bummed with so many having developed if they don't go anywhere.
I built my incubator over a year ago and this is the best success with development I've had so far.
It has hatched a lot of chicks but always with low percentages and some problems.
I will get it right since I learn and tweak things each time.

I think I need to get back to chicken chores and preparing for all the horrific weather coming. Maybe when I'm done for the day there will be action.

I had one pip at the wrong end so I didnt see it and when I moved.my chicks to the brooder i let too much humidity out then noticed when I went to candle that I had a pip. I pumped a bunch of hot water in cuz itgot the.humidity up faster than finding a spritzer. so now im back up to the humidity i had before and the chick is alive. when do i intervene?

I just helped my marans egg a bit. It had pipped at the wrong end and was making no progess and getting quiet. I took the shell off the membrane, wrapped it in a warm/wet paper towel and put it back in the bator. Going to give it a couple more hours, if nothing I will start taking the membrane off too.
