5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Well it certainly looks bad but I suppose it's no worse then a feral cat. Last spring a very big grey tom moved into my coop. He leaves the birds alone and my mouse problem is much better since he started staying in there. I'm pretty tolerant but possums are pushing it.

does anyone have any tips to keep the chicks from wasting so much food?
400

that's my feeder and I just put fresh towels down 2 hours ago

I still only have 1 baby from my hatch. I have candled the remaining eggs and there are some I am really not sure about. How long do I let mama sit? She is still on the eggs (although she takes very good care of baby Jasmine!)

This egg looks clear. Anyone else?

I put the feeder on a plate. I also do not give them feed until they eat what they spill.

That teaches them how to forage!

There are 4 different eggs - which one do you think is clear? If it is clear, what is the shadow parts at the top of the eggs? It doesn't really move if I turn the eggs a different direction. If they are clear, what should I do? Do I take them away from Mama?

Not sure how many days? It's a hard color to look at. The top one..as I look again, seems to have some dark in it. If mama is still sitting on them, I would leave them a while longer. Photos really are hard to tell. Good luck!
