My DH would be proud of me because I do not have any of my incubators running right now.  Little does he  know that I'll be breaking at least one of them out for this hatch-along.    My favorites of my incubators are my Rcom mini and Rcom 20 Pro (now that I finally got the parts to fix it).  My others are an old Lyons/Marsh incubator, a newer Brower top hatch and a Farm Innovators Styrofoam.  If I want to hatch more than the 20 eggs that the Rcom 20 can hold, I like to use the Brower top hatch.  I have the Brower only because my Rcom 20 wasn't working correctly and I needed something that I could hatch more than 3 in (my Rcom mini).   The Styrofoam one is my least favorite to use because of different problems I've had with humidity (too little or too much) with it at different times of the year.  The best incubator of all is The Broody Hen :cd .  The toughest problem with them is finding the ON/Off  button.

Do you like the Brower top hatch, thinking of getting one

Sadly, I did not win the ameraucana eggs.  :(   However, I think it may have been serendipitous, because I have found the SFH eggs I have been wanting very badly for buy it now not auction and the seller is willing to work out the shipping so that they'll reach me probably the 9th (giving me time to let them rest).  :yesss:   So I should have a dozen SFH to set and also a dozen of the Lav Orps.  My yard is gonna be so full of PRETTY soon!

SFH are beautiful, fun birds...I have lots of them...but they can be very difficult to hatch after shipping. Most do a dry incubation to have any success, but don't expect any to hatch, and then some probably will.

No, just shipped eggs. I've never had a problem with any other shipped eggs though

Shipped eggs are a crapshoot!

hey Ron i have a question, how are the genesis 1588s?? ive heard alot of good things about them. what are normally your hatch rates on them and is the digital thermostat and hygrometer reliable?? im looking to get a set from GQF. it comes with the 1588, an egg turner, and 30 bobwhite quail eggs. for $204 do u think its worth it?

Get it with coturnix eggs not bobwhite! Much easier and lay in 8 weeks.
This is so exciting!  I am looking forward to seeing all the beautiful chicks!  Everyone is going to post pictures, right?

So, are marans eggs really more difficult than other types?  I may have given myself a harder row to hoe than I intended.
. Lighter smaller eggs are easier it the big big dark shipped eggs that are the most trouble. But weighing really hrlps.

My multi quotes are showing up randomly days later. I'm days off in my replies! Ahh well ill be quirky.
Good morning everyone! It's too cold dh is refusing to get out of bed.
