Lucky you collecting 38 eggs so far.

I managed to collect a dozen to ship out, and I have only collected 5 eggs for myself in the past 6 days.

DARN CHICKENS.

Well I think we need more of this cold rainy, sleeting, and icy weather, (not), I got 11 eggs today. When the weather was better was only getting 4 to five.
I do have a lot of young hens though so their laying is not the best right now. So I guess getting any at all is a good thing.

Blue Marans eggs look like that. They are very pretty.

My Wheaten Penedesenca started laying last week. The eggs is very pretty too.


The brown one of course.

I've decided I need to add a white egg layer to my flock. I now have blue/green eggs, medium brown eggs, light brown eggs, and dark (chocolate) egg layers, just need the white egg layers to complete the color basket.

Anyone else here a bit disturbed that CackleJoy claims to be living with elephants?

Well I figure that they are probably children elephants or dog elephants. My child elephants are grown but I have an 11 month old half Akita, half yellow lab. When he gets excited things happened. He sprained my ankle last night when he lunged sideways against the inside of my knee because I was opening the door to let him out.

By the way I am working on rehoming him. He came to me from a friend when she had a housefire and lost a place to keep such a large dog. He is an awesome dog. He has had good basic training and I am continuing to train him in house manners. He is just very energetic and still a puppy and likes to chew stuff. Fortunately not furniture but balls of yarn are irresistible. He would be an awesome running buddy for someone.

Now I am going to have to draw one of those Mad Chicken Scientist complete with a Steampunk incubator!

Well so far I have collected 38 eggs for setting for the hatch-a-long.
36 Naked Neck and NN crossed with some Game/Game Cross.
36 Easter Eggers
1 Light Brahma (they have only laid 4 or 5 five eggs so far).
1 Blue Copper Marans ( this is the first one that I know for sure is a Marans egg. What do you think: The one standing on end about mid-way with the speckles on it. Is that fairly nice color for a 1st egg from a Marans?



Haven't even cleaned them up yet!

I don't know about what colors are considered "good" for them, but that is one GORGEOUS egg.

You forgot Olive Eggers... You can't have a complete color rainbow without olive eggs.

My eggs still haven't shipped!! Now she says she may not be able to fill my order......

I just wanted 7 eggs to fill my little bator. *sniffle* I have searched for eggs closer to fill the larger incubator I acquired with no luck, so I know it is useless on that front. I hope this all shakes out.

Well, if it doesn't rain it pours. Have a medical situation of some urgency coming up. We have to drive 4 hours one way to see the doctor in Seattle on the 10th. I don't know WHEN we'll be back home -- might be late the 11th, might not be till the 12th. The neighbor kids are fine to trust to make sure the chickens have food and water, but I don't trust them in the house to mess with the incubator. :/

Man do I wish I had a turner now!
