5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Quote:
They are a white leghorn crossed with and Crested Cream Legbar, to create super blue egg layers. They are from DMRippy. I am hoping I have a good hatch with them. I also ordered silkie eggs that will be here today. Setting everything tomorrow. Early I know but we will be out of town New Years.

I might have one more random post.

I will have to check it out- I saw a link to make a poll in the first post so I should be able to do that.

What photo contest contest sounds good? Broody mom? (trying to keep things hatch related).
Ron, just an idea..not to add if you have decided on all now, I haven't kept up real good here..but I just loved the caption contest. It cracked me up with what some folks could come up with. That was a fun one. Most were photos of baby chicks, but there were a few of roos and hens. Not sure how they picked the photos to do for the captions.

I like that contest too!

All four of my hens are laying now! I got four eggs today. Total of seven have been saved up so far for the hatch-a-long.

If your temps are below freezing, collect eggs often.
I failed to collect at the end of the day yesterday and ended up with 2 frozen eggs this morning.
50-60 and high humidity is the ideal for hatching egg storage.
If you have to store longer than a week, wrap the eggs in plastic.
