5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

I'm north central about 45 min for Akron

Will pm you what variety did they give you. I have new birds now. Working at getting size smaller. At the show we had a dUccle club meet and were discussing the size of the birds and how they were getting bigger and bigger. One of the breeders said it was due to the amount if protein we are feeding them, said that they need a lower protein and a change in what we feed the chicks. He has been getting smaller birds by hatching in winter and late spring and feeding the chicks fine screened corn and adults either hay or grass and scratch which is what I just started doing. Will see what happens with the first batch I hatch this winter. Can you send me pics if the cockerels

Mille fleur looks like, although she said one split to porcelain and the other split to mottled maybe? Heatherscooby on here had them. She gave tthem to me because she only had those 2 boys, no pullets. Will work on pics.

I don't remember selling her eggs. It would be split to splash as I have no breeding porcelain

And oh, hatched these two weeks ago tomorrow. Goldendoodles. The fist photo is of one of the Black Goldendoodles. Their eyes and ears are opening First week, a cream goldendoodle..sold. Yaay! Last week of the Golden Goldendoodle..sold too.. Big yawn..love me some puppies. :) First time I've bred in years. Don't like the thought of breeding a lot. Mama will be fixed this spring. :) Have to say, this has been fun, but I have a feeling that the real fun has just begun. :/
These puppies are adorable!! Great pics too.

That :sick smell usually starts as an "eggy" smell and gets more rotten the longer it sits. Good eggs=no smell. Bad eggs=eggy or foul smell.

Stay away from blue, too, then lol. You'd think blue, being a light color, would be easy to see through but gosh darnit, I've had better luck seeing into black eggs than blue.

Black eggs??? What breed lays black eggs? I've seen blue, green, olive chocolate, and even lavender but not black. I must have that one.

By black I meant very dark brown. Sorry to dash your hopes lol.

Although, that super dark Cayuga egg is pretty awesome @Wisher1000!

Someone ask for a black egg? This is a Cayuga duck egg. The pic was posted on "The Great Egg Shipping Experiment" thread by Jessshan8. Cool, huh?
Wowza!

What? Total eggs set? Where do I guess..or is it too late?
The contest closed already.

I'm confused about this member survey. Do we only need to fill it out if we plan to get rid of the chicks we hatch? I plan to keep anything that may hatch here, but would take chicks off anyone local to me (aka no one I'm sure lol).

On that note, I did a quick candle earlier and looks like only 2/15 developing. So much for best hatch rate LOL. Oh well.

Survey was to get a list of who wants to sell they're chicks and where they are located so that member can look at the list and see if any are for sale around them and what breeds are for sale. Once the list is done I think ron is going to try and a list on front page by person name or make another post for the list and locations and breeds. I'm not 100% on the end result of what's happening with it.

The guessing is closed.

I had the same question. I won't have any chicks for sale, ( I will be lucky to get more than a few) but would love the opportunity to acquire some from others.
