5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Yaay for shade! And the water bottles will help..I always make sure there is water almost right in front of their face when they are broody in the summer. The food not far away either. I'm sure she will appreciate any fresh cool fruit that you have on hand. :) How fun..a mama soon to be, and it's always fun to watch them and their babies.

There is a plastic tray out of a lunch box just next to her in the middle box - one compartment has water in and the other has a bit of chick crumble in it - I also give her little treats in there too!!

Those are always such shocking miracles to me! Gratz!

I must tell you, eating black eggs was a bit freaky. I would not do it again. Plus, I dont liek duck eggs, only for baking. Do not ask me why I have 5 ducks then <<

GAA! I hate it when problems wont fix! Especially when they are just for a few people. MOST annoying

If you can keep her cool when its over 105, I would try. When we were over 100 here for a week I lost all the outside broody eggs. They all overheated. Mind you, The hens that were on them were not my best mother. Nutmeg can kill almost any chicks. She has talent.
So pretty! I love quail. But now that I have james Marie quail I cant fill up every spot, they are too big.
I don't eat duck eggs as just eggs either. But I use them for baking and in my homemade dog food and scramble them up now and then as a treat for the chicks, chickens, ducklings and ducks.

Ron is on it!!!! She is so cute! I heard leghorns were flighty, but if Ron says otherwise, than I believe it!

Hey...I said it too! Take a look for yourself...right at my back door, and this one would click her nails on the threshold to get my attention for treats.

Her name is Miss Piggy. Love, loves, her treats.

They were the sweetest little things. I had them until they started laying eggs.

The great thing about these Trader Joes hatching egg for me is that I buy them in Davis California and they come from Sanoma County which is only an hour towards the Ocean from us.

update on my twins they are coming along now just slower then the rest..im guessing since there is 2 its taking longer and there is a good air pocket in each side for each chick
