I would put a little bit of sealer ( spray verathane) on those edges,, That chipped style wood can hold moisture and create mold issues,, I had a friend use this stuff. Its not the wood ,it is the glue... Just a thought...love your cabinet,,,,
My family makes this style of wood product (American Laminates). You are absolutely correct! I'd use a quick kaulk on all seams. It will be a life-saver. At least a sanity-saver! Open edges should be painted over so none of the wood is exposed.

Hi! I hope all is going well for everyones eggs! The lost eggs are going to be reshipped. Would be nice if they developed too

I have been reading the posts.... y'all are too kind. I am not a mad scientist.... well maybe a little. If you guy ONLY KNEW some of the stuff I have cooking at the farm LOL.

I have seen several posts about my Marans eggs I and I wanted to CLARIFY the colors I have. I have a Blue Copper roo over Blue and Black Copper pullets those are in pen 10 so you would get blue black and splash chicks. Not all blue and splash or just splash. Some got eggs from pen 5 and those have a black copper roo over blue and black copper so only blue and black copper from that pen.

I would LOVE to see pics of the chicks you guys hatch from my eggs especially the Marans. Please PM me pics. I can't keep up with this thread.... y'all talk more than my Hubby does

Hope you ALL have a great hatch! nothing more fun than a good hatch!

I am going to work on my new hatcher today very excited about it. I have had it for months just didn't have time to work on it. My son is going to do all the wiring today for me YEAH!.... just need to test it after that.

This pic is best to kinda explain what I am going to do. The bottom is where the flexwatt and water will be. I may need to add another heat source. Flexwatt sometimes need a boost. Maybe a food dehydrate the bottom heating element. I don't think I will put a fan in. My fan is out on my other hatcher and they seem to hatch a little better.... not as much shrink wrapping. If anyone has any suggestions SHARE please. I have a digital thermostat that will be mounted under the hatcher with a on off switch. I do sometime turn OFF the hatcher..... not the incubator

I am trying to just hatch once a week. Make my life a little easier.
There was another post with an FYI regarding sealed seams. I want to second it. My family makes a laminate product (American Laminates). You should know that the chip board will swell with moister and collect fungus if it is not sealed off at every exposure. Seams, cracks and open edges must be sealed off. Once the chip board is unable to collect moisture, you should have a product that will serve you well for years.

I'd use kaulking on seams, paint or edging tape on edges, and rub some kaulking over cracks. It will be worth your time to avoid a fungal issue. You are so blessed to have a hatcher like that - it is beautiful! Since I have access to all the laminate product I want... well lets just say my DH is going to wish I had not been on this thread.

Ok, im bery concerned! I saw 2 veins and literaily about one dozen of my eggs look like they have nothing and are very light and has a light colored yolk, and looks to have no compared to some other silkie eggs in the bator, which are very heavy and has a dark blob....

400
blob
400
nada...

Should i just wait for a few more days? The light ones were refrigerated....would that make that much of a difference in the process of incubation?

For now I'm keeping all eggs in there in case hey sill have a possibility.... "Sigh."

I just checked on my eggies. The Lav Orps have visible veining on all but 2-3. My show EEs VERY clear veining on all 3. The SFH (shipped ones) still have very sloshy air cells, but 6 of 12 have visible veins.

This is only day 4 so I am holding out hope that the remainder are just a bit slow and will develop some veins soon.
