oh yes you should go back and get at least 4 more. I mean its winter and cold even if your house is 90+ they may get a slight cross breeze from the front door 5 rooms away. I say buy all they have cant go wrong there.

Sadly they were people caused losses not animals. Over 140 lost total. The biggest losses were poisoned. Some were just let out of pens for dogs and coyote to get. The last 30 or so were shot and left for anything that could carry them off... found tons of birdshot blood and feathers but no birds. I have an empty 340 egg capacity incubator, empty brooders ready to go and a newly completed brand new coop that's nearly empty. I will gladly take chicks eggs or anything else :) -MCF

It's normally a 6 chick minimum because of warmth for the chicks. HOWEVER...if I buy chicks on a 90 degree day in mid July, it's still a 6 chick minimum..hmmm

yeah I could see that also. I started chicks this year and love it. My wife not so much but eh I'm happy i'll just buy her some chocolate every now and then. Back to point. I bought 11 to start out with. I wanted to buy another 1-3 like a few days later or maybe a week but I couldn't they said I had to buy another 6. I wasn't too happy so I didn't buy any. Then a few weeks later I bought 11 more, last they had for season. they turned out to be stuff I didn't want so I sold at a loss on craigslist. I was hoping some different bantams but they was all OEG's and the wife dindt like them the kids didn't and I really didn't care for them. It didn't help I had them for like 2-3 weeks and already I could see 2/3rds growing like crazy and one was trying to crow already. I wish they would have let me buy the 1-3 I wanted since I already had bought some. Oh well no more tsc chicks for me except maybe a WLH or two.

where do you live?

Down to 5 Rhodebars, and two Marans. These eggs came very cold. So, glad to have what I have.

I am not seeing anything from the eggs that took a week to get here. Only day 5, but no veining showing, so took a few out and looked..nothing started in any. Will give them two more days.

That looks awesome! Gosh, I feel lame with my plastic tote with a baby gate over the top plan. . .
I WOULD PROTECT THAT OSB BOARD,, THE PLYWOOD need to be finished with paint or varnish or some sort, maybe bees wax or mineral oil. Inside only I am, refering to. Something as a barrier on the ,bottom @ least needs protection.. its not the wood that molds its the glues get wet and breaks down and then molds. That is what you called engineered plywood. I am a wood worker,, The set up looks great

...just needs some protection from water spills and poop mishaps,

Sounds like me, 7 marans and 3 trader joes eggs. I had 10 orpingtons set and only 2 are showing veining, it's day 4 on the orps. I'm supposed to be getting 12 blue laced red wyandotte eggs tomorrow!
