Sadly they were people caused losses not animals. Over 140 lost total. The biggest losses were poisoned. Some were just let out of pens for dogs and coyote to get. I have an empty 340 egg capacity incubator, empty brooders ready to go and a newly completed brand new coop that's nearly empty. I will gladly take chicks eggs or anything else

I never used to understand why older people would say "why would you want to bring children into THIS world?" Everyday I see more & more what they meant. So sorry you've had to go through all of this....

If you can hold off until the first week of the New Year, I might be able to send you some. Mutts though, but if the Marans start back up Olive Eggers.

My oldest little lady turns 12 today, I feel so old. LOL She helped me candle the and we seen a 'dancing' chick. She thought I was telling her a story when I seen it the other day..... you should have seen her face!

I'm still needing a BR Tom like we chatted about last NYDH. Sorry you've had such bad times. In spring I can hook you up w/ some eggs, I think you are only 2-3 hrs drive from us. You can hang w/ my DH and talk about MC stuff or whatever (just NOT chickens w/ him I've got EE w/ CL roos only laying atm, but will have purebreeds in a couple months CL,SFH , HBR plus more EE/OE if any of that is appealing.

Well it's day 10 and I just candled and I am happy to say that I have 100% development!!!!! Can't wait for New Year's Day!!!

I think I may take all eggs out of bator except my oes and then put them back in a few days just so I can win the drawing : )

I have 4 chickens. They are almost 2 years old. I was getting about 2 eggs a day.

That's pretty common then. The first fall/winter, they'll lay right through. Beginning the second and subsequent winters, they'll take a break
I'm assuming they already went through their molt this year? If not, that's what they're doing now. Sometimes it isn't very noticeable with that number of birds.
I was getting 22 eggs a day average in August and got down to 2 by the first of October out of various ages of hens.

There's even a volunteer human extinction movement.
Their goal:

IMO, not entirely a bad idea.

Hurray!!!
Days will be getting longer, hens will be laying again.
Still 2+ months of deep freeze to come though.
We are right on the ice/rain line of this new storm. It is 34 now and not going up all day. It's been raining since midnight and we'll be getting steady precipitation into tomorrow.
Some in MO will be having lots of ice and the inevitable outages. If it happens to us, I will be so smug that I had the generator repaired this week.
