LOL, Penny Hen! Yes...I used a maxi pad (wingless) and folded it in half and put it in the center of the bator so I can still see most of the air cells for when they pip. I got home tonite and it had dropped to 45%, so I used a childrens medicine spoon to pour drops of water in thru the air hole. I have both water things full, then a sopping wet washcloth over that, then the black egg tray, then the pad in the top of the bator. We are up to 60% now.

Off to order one of those cool chick waterers!

Day 16: Candled - 10 Viable (7 active movers, 1 shell too dark to tell, 2 look good but no movement)

Man this little giant is touchy. I barely move the setting knob and bam it goes from 104 to 87-90. Wife is sitting there and I think by buying this I may have sold her on another 200+ incubator come tax season lol. She is talking about we need to return this thing. I feel a sportsman coming my way maybe. lol

You will want to keep the door closed where ever you have the bator while it is getting warmed up. Let it set for an hr. once you get it close, then go from there, just tweeking it a bit up or down, which ever it needs. Once you get the feel of it, you will like it.

She really does. You know what else? She is quite the artist. She heard that my dog died of a terrible freak accident..and she asked for a favorite photo of him, and drew it for me! Will go and look for it. Just beautiful! Sent her this photo of us in the canyon.

Yeah last time I checked it was 100.8. I thave my spot check hanging about 1.5 inches off the bottom of wire I think so should be about right have to check again. I set a room upstairs for it since no room here in living room.

Just an FYI if you are using a Little Giant Incubator.

I was trying to find something to hold water (alot of water, not take up too much room) during lockdown. And something the chicks could not get into after they hatch.

Husband offered be a Plastic Mud Pan (used for holding the mud when installing sheet rock).

Fits perfectly under the heating coil and little ones can not get in.

Well..all 5 of my Rhodebars are moving around, and the one Marans is too dark to see, but the air sac is clear. The bad part. I've had what I call half a saddle air sac in most of them. Even the Marans. Not sure how they will do when they try and get out. Sometimes, the air pocket is so large, they can't reach that shell. I try and make sure I have the large part of the air more on the floor.
Plus, I have that one that made if from the 4 doz. that took a week in the mail. Little thing is holding on. It also has a large air sac, kind of funky, but not as bad as a saddle side. Not as high. So, I am soo hoping that one little one makes it. It isn't due to hatch until the third.
