Number 3 just arrived!! I hatch under a broody - so I never get to see this bit. Thank you so much Ron for sharing.

I love how they do what I call the paddle walk. They crawl along, and they use their wings like a penguin for a while. My DH just noticed that with this hatch. He laughs and says, they use their wings to help balance themselves, they walk like a penguin!

There are four out now, including the one that lost a lot of blood. The hatcher looks like a little slaughter house now. The bloody chick is clearly weak and lethargic. I moved it to a warmer corner away from the main airflow. I'll just have to wait and see if it makes it through the night

Sparkle is a surrogate mother again! One of the two eggs has hatched. She was clucking and poking her head under her body, then a little head poked out from her feathers. It cheeped a bit, then snuggled back into Sparkle's feathers.



She hatched this chick early; I was anticipating watching her and the Tournament of Roses Parade tomorrow morning as the eggs hatched.

So need pics of her under the tv.

This are such bad photos but they're what I could catch with my cell phone a few days ago and then right after the first chick hatched about 12 hours ago.
