~ 5th Annual Cinco de Mayo Hatchathon! ~

Nibbles spent last night in the nest box, I think she is getting ready to stay broody. Her eggs are not fertile so she will be hatching ducks this year. Hope she won't kill them.

Of course you over filled the inculbator!!! Don't we all???

Still waiting for SG to get laying...
I've got 20 BR and 9 SS in the brooder, and 6 more SS eggs in the hatcher.

Hope your hens get with the program, soon.

Got a question...
Has anyone built an incubator from a wine cooler *and integrated the digital thermometer/display*? I'm having a bit of difficulty; while I think I know a work-around - I don't want to waste time & effort if someone already knows my plan won't work...
It's kicking on, temps climb at a reasonable rate (49 to 82 in a bit over an hour in a cold greenhouse) - but kicking off at 82. I can't have that, LOL. I know the probe and display will register to 99, because it would with the compressor wired in - but it isn't going there with the lamp & fan. I'm guessing I just need to put the lamp & fan on a separate circuit.

If anybody has tried this - talk to me, please! I temporarily set 68 turkey eggs in the LG (one went in the Brinsea to replace a blood ring egg)

6 more days until the chicken eggs set date! I cannot decide how many eggs I am going to set... leaning towards about 36 so I have a good selection of chicks for colors I want.

I thought it was customary to set the maximum incubator capacity, plus three...
