6++(15 collected so far) LF Lavender Wheaten Ameraucana Project Eggs

No, there's not really any gain in going backward. Just find some Wheatens that fill out what your project birds are missing, and breed those for some Split Lav Wheatens, who should be a step up/better from your original project birds.

If a LW is hatched it is best to move forward by crossing it with a wheatie to create splits. They will be visually wheaten but carry one copy of the lavender gene., just like crossing a black and a lavender. When you cross a lavender and a wheaten you get fowl that is split for both lavender and wheaten. In order to get a LW the bird will need 2 copies of lavender and 2 copies of wheaten. Now if no LW's hatch, I recommend the breeder make another line of lavender x wheaten cross then take those chicks and breed them with this line to diversify the gene pool, otherwise you will have to inbreed which will weaken the line.

I will be happy to coach the winner through genetics, to get the best results for this line.
