6+ Blue laced red wyandottes

I'm really glad this issue was brought up on here - I have never looked into NPIP before and I can tell you from reading this that I won't pursue it...we live on 60 acres in the country and deal with long drives down poorly maintained dirt roads to be as removed from the city and the government as possible - clean air, blue skies, and lots of privacy!!

Years and years ago I ran a small daycare from my home and chose not to be licensed by the state for these same reasons. When interviewed by potential clients and asked if I was licensed, I would tell them no, and the reason is that if I were licensed, the government could, and probably would, drop in on my house and your kids any time they wanted, no permission needed, no probably cause needed, and stick their noses any where they wanted. Every one of them agreed with me.

Not to sound like a fanatic or anything, but I don't trust the government on just about any level...I just can't think of one thing I've seen them do right in a very, very long time!! I think they should have to use coupons and common sense like the rest of us!! Can you imagine what we could get straightened out if they would turn the whole works over to the BYC community to run for even just 30 days?! I'm pretty we could shake the rats out!!

My main issue with the NPIP program is it basically only tests for 2 diseases...pullorum and thyphoid. Some states requre AI tests, but not our state. I think it gives a false sense of security in that it doesn't test for lots of other diseases that a flock is much more likely to have.

I agree letting farmers run the farms would be ideal. Just look at how stupid they were with the Moscovy deal, they didn't even know we had them as domestic pets when they made the laws for the new migratory routs

Well, I think the farmers should run the farms....and run the government, too!!! Can you imagine if they handed the federal budget to a room full of country folks - all holding red pencils - how quick we'd turn the economy around!?!? You're spending 3.5 billion on WHAT!?!?! I don't think so - RED LINE!!!! Makes me happy inside just picturing it!!
