6 dead 2 more look like they're on their way out

Thanks Double
2 more have went since then. The rest look fine but I'll find out. The hatchery was actually supposed to send me all of that and forgot but it should arrive today. Think they will be sending me replacements.
Ill grab some Gatorade on my way home today!
thoth3q ,
That's a bummer (losing 2 more and they did not send/include the essentials) . Glad they are trying to make it right but know you hate to lose any .

Do what Judy tells you and i hope the very best for You !!
As Judy said make sure all chicks can get to a cooler location in brooder .... they have their own built-in thermostat - we just provide the heat and cool space for them .

I would taper and stop the sugar and electrolytes as soon as they start improving.

You could then go back to the vinegar if you wish. Maybe only add it to some of their water. See if they show a preference; you don't want to discourage them from drinking. Some of mine would always aovoid the jug with the vinegar in it.

You can give the amprolium preventively, even if you are feeding medicated feed. See this, from a very experienced member:

They have improved much. No more casualties so far they have stabilized. The main reason I was using vinegar was to try and avoid pasty butt. I've only had a couple and I hit them with a warm water spray bottle to the butt and paper toweled them off. Wasn't totally sure it was a great idea but rubbed a little Vaseline on hoping it would help it not stick. I'm hesitant to try vinegar again though.
It appears that my first group had the misfortune of possibly getting too cold in transit. I will definitely remember the sugar water because it helped.
Thank you for the quick response and the life saving advice Judy!

If indeed I helped, you're certainly welcome.

As far as I can tell, pasty butt is simply constipation due to dehydration, so all they really need is water. And sometimes, a cooler brooder.
