By the Looks of it its going to be a white crested cuckoo. And a nice one to.

You wont beable to tell if its a smooth or frizzle for a few more days.

Hi Steph,

Well, unfortunately my hatch was not terribly successful. My humidity crashed and I wound up w/ only one little one. It was one of the eggs that had a "P" on it. Does that mean its a Polish?

He/she is cuter than heck, a bit splay legged but I'm working on fixing it. She is very sweet and not panicky like some other chicks I've hatched. I've named her chirpy. Pretty original, NOT!

I'll post a picture when chirpy gets her legs under her.

OMG! Julie thats a Partridge Silkie! If it has fluffy legs then it is. hahahaha. My Mom just decided to stick that in there at the last minute. Thats funny.

Well I dont intend on selling anymore eggs to people because it seems as though its hard on them.
Which is ok I am not good at selling stuff anyways :-D

SO NO MORE EGGS!! HAHAHAHA

And all the Polish I have hatched out of my own eggs have been nuts! hahaha. They run around crazy and screaching...funny to watch and the silkies just sit there (all quite and peaceful).

Thanks for the comments on the chick. My daughter has decided to call it "Hip Hop" it is the craziest chick I've ever had! We had to stick an old window screen over the brooder box as it jumps and jumps...yesterday we found it out on the window sill!
I'll try to get a new photo posted soon...feathers are coming in and they almost a stripe...no frizzies though.

ok so its been a few weeks. I got in an order of 6 pullets from the local farm supply. We have 2 sexlinks, 2 arcaunas and 2 blue orpingtons. I put them all in with Hip Hop and boy did they take to one another! Hip Hop had been lonely, now its the big'un in the group and loving the company...no more peeping all day!
Here is what my polish looks like today...

Hip hop is adorable Lisa. I didn't get a polish out of my hatch. I did get a silkie who's cuter than heck.

Now I need a polish!

Lisa your bird is adorable!

It looks like a good quality bird. Its a Non Beared Smooth White Crested Cuckoo. I am still unable to tell if its a boy or girl yet.lol
I will give you a hint so you can figure it out yourself.
If you look around the beak of the bird and you see a light red tint then its a boy and if not then its a girl.

You should try showing him/her. I bet him/her would win something good.

Julie I hope your little silkie is doing well. When you have the time can you add some pictures?? I am so interested to see.

I have been so busy...I hatched two little parakeets and I am trying to get them very tame. They are soooo cute. I have one sleeping in my shirt now..they just love to hide.

I am still trying to hatch some polish pullets but instead I ended up with 2 roosters lol. They are really pretty though and I intend on takeing them to some shows this fall.
