Up way too early for a Saturday!

I think the update may have been moderated???
How may eggs are you up to?

Is it possible to tell visually the difference between the blacks and the splits?

it was too dark outside to get a nice photo in real sunlight-and its raining out now:(
No, you won't be able to tell between the splits and the blacks:( The ratio of lavs you'd get from this bunch is high though...I just let them all out to play and saw one lav in the upper nesting box and the split on the ground nesting box...I know the black split roo is mating some of them but only when the Pure lav roo isnt looking ( which isnt often haha) the split hen will give off 75% pure lav -if mated with pur lav roo...The pure lav hens will give off 75% lav babies if the black split roo got to them before the Lav roo...

Thanks!
I read somewhere that the split lavs have lighter wing tips or something??? Maybe it was a different breed. Wish there was a way to tell.

Anyways good luck with the auction. It is looking good!

Thanks Phage:)

I thought so on split silkies. But I was wrong.. I followed that advice on my split silkies for a bit..Then with breeding them I learned differently-can't tell

When I hatched these guys out there was not an ounce of coloration difference on the splits...I didn't hatch/buy any that had the chance of being pure blacks..Thats too hard for me to keep track of and didn't want to screw up breeding...

ooh the countdown is starting!!! LESS THAN 2 HOURS!!!
