I need some serious guidance. I have just started a small flock with two Barred Rock hens (sisters, now 6 mo. old... 4.5 months when purchased) and one Black Copper Maran rooster ( now 5.5 mo.old.)
They have a VERY large coop, plenty of fresh water, are eating Layena SunFresh, and have plenty of fresh veggies and melon on a daily basis. Scratch is given to them in small variations.

During the day they are able to roam the yard and pick around. I clean the coop every other day and change their bedding every other week.

All have been wormed, I've searched for lice and mites and found no traces. A friend suggested putting them on starter to keep their growth going, but they were on adult feed when we bought them.

Is there something that I am doing wrong? Or is there something that I should try to promote laying?
I am frustrated beyond words right now.

Please help!

Are they possibly laying somewhere in the yard? I started letting my 2 laying hens roam our yard for short periods of time but today they were out while I did major weeding... For about 4hours. One of the hens was laying in the weeds and I could barely see her... And she's white :). Anyway after getting no eggs today I went and checked the spot she was hiding and sure enough there was an egg there. That chicken consistently lays in the nesting box and just about an egg a day for the last three weeks or so.

Maybe there's a clutch somewhere in your yard?

Yes, check the yard. With a very large coop To use keep them in it for a couple of days to see if they are laying yet. With some it takes longer to mature. At six months they have done most of their growing and don't need the starter.
