6 month old Broody hatching First time Journal

I saw just one pip at 6 am and at 11 am there was a empty shell and a tinychick baby hidden under mama!!!! So marshmellow, and guava are now the biological parents of one chick!! Rambita of course is the mama who suffered through that hatching process and looks to be doing good, was really nice to me when i came in to see and then again when the whole family came out to see!! i have a video i will edit and put up as soon as i can (uploading takes forever here) in the meantime enjoy the pics of the dad, mom and the surrogate mama!!!

Ok now how to tell if she is being a good mama? She is still on the 2 eggs and when I gave food to her she ate and told the baby to eat too, talked with him. But it's over 100 degrees here today so now the baby is out from under mama next to her, but im worried it might be ignored. Not being shown the water, the vaby of course is still struggling to walk

Yay! Congrats! How are they doing now?

Baby and mama look good when I locked up at roost time. About an hour ago. Baby is by mamas head but out, and I don't see any pips on the other 2 buff eggs. This chick is soo cute and tiny!

When I went in this afternoon I brought a ice party to the chickens since it was hot. She heard all the commotion, I went in to feed her a ice chip, instead she ran out the enclosure to the main ice party to cool off she was really hot, but she was only gone for 3 minutes while I guarded the baby who slept and then she was back and I noticed the other chickens looking surprised when they hear the baby or hear Rambita cooing at him. Also she got visitors for outside the brooder home looking curious and giving her their congrats lol :jumpy
