So a bit of back story . . . I have two chickens from the same pullet/cockerel pairing, one was hand raised, the other a broody raised . . . they are a week apart in age.

This is Cookie I've known he was a cockerel from a pretty young age because he had red leakage and a large dark comb. As he got older his dark pointy hackle feathers confirmed what I already knew.

Then there's Biscuit she (?) hasn't been as obvious, her comb and wattles took much longer to come in, around 10-11 weeks old. I know they get darker as pullets get ready to lay, so that didn't set off any alarms. Today I was in the yard and saw her (?) mount one of my Buff Orpingtons?! It caused me to take a harder look at her and the signs are worrying.

Here's the problem . . . she's (?) a crossbeak chick. I didn't notice it until she was about 4 weeks old, so I don't know if it happened due to an injury or if she was born with it and I didn't see until it became more obvious since I was hands off with the broody raised chicks. I planned to keep her (?) but just not hatch any chicks from her, but if she (?) is indeed a cockerel I'll have to rehome or cull her.

Here's some pictures of Cookie and Biscuit together.
