6 roos and 4 girls? What to do?

A grow out pen is a separate coop and run where young chicks can grow to size and maturity. It can be used to house new birds for quarantine, or a bachelor pad for extra roosters. You may be rushing to judgment on their sex. A six to four split in a straight run of chicks isn't out of line.

Thanks for the info! I posted some pictures of them on my profile if you are curious.

Thats what the hubs suggested, we keep one and eat the rest. What is a grow out pen? Will they still fight in it? Ive read that they are great layers! IM excited!

Something like this i raise meatbirds in it they are easy to make, 2x4's and chicken wire.

You could just be jumping the gun/ worry too much. You should post pictures and see what others have to say. RIR roosters are more aggressive than other breeds from what I've heard. IE: Your more likely to get at least one aggressive roo out of six. Wait until you know their personalities to pick which roo to keep.

It's important to pick the right one, especially if you have kids. At 21 days, it is way too early to make a decision IMO.

If they are supposed to have large combs you can tell fairly early. My Marans I know what they are the first week, D'Uccles by the second week sometimes earlier.

I will wait and see which one I want to keep. I can see that the ones with the combs are a little larger and more agressive than the ones without. They keep running from each side of the brooder and chest bumping each other. LOL. I dont want to jump the gun. I posted pictures on my profile. Is there another place where I should post them for info?

Post in what breed or gender is this, but I think you were right all along :)
